Liton Das maintained his excellent form from the ODIs, scoring 60 runs off 44 balls in the first match. Munim Shahriar (17 runs) and Afif Hossain (25 runs) cameoed in the batting order as other batters struggled to make an impact. On a tricky wicket, they finished with a good score of 155/8 in 20 overs. 

Nasum Ahmed began their chase with four wickets inside the power play and finished with figures of 4-0-10-4. To clear the lower order, Shakib Al Hasan and Shoriful Islam took two and three wickets. Mustafizur Rahman and Mahedi Hasan also did an excellent job with the ball, bowling Afghanistan out for 94 runs.
